How to Add Liquidity to Your Token

Deploying a token doesn't make it tradeable. Here's what actually does, and how to think about your first pool.

Why liquidity is a separate step

A freshly deployed token exists on-chain, but nothing connects it to any other asset yet. There's no price, and no way to swap it. A liquidity pool is what creates that connection: you deposit your token alongside a native asset or stablecoin into a DEX pool, and the pool's ratio of the two becomes the market price.

Picking a pair

Two options, each with a tradeoff:

  • Pair with the native asset (SOL, ETH, BNB, and so on). This is the default choice for most launches, since it's what most wallets already hold and what most DEX aggregators expect to route through.
  • Pair with a stablecoin (USDC, USDT). This gives your token a price that doesn't move with the native asset's own volatility, which some projects prefer for a cleaner price chart.

Where to add it, per chain

  • Solana / Eclipse: Raydium or Orca.
  • Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Blast and most EVM chains: Uniswap v3.
  • BNB Chain: PancakeSwap.
  • Polygon: Uniswap v3 or QuickSwap.
  • Avalanche: Trader Joe.
  • Berachain, Sonic, Sei, Injective, Cronos, Gnosis each have their own leading DEX. The chain directory lists the right one for each.

Sizing your pool

A thin pool means large price swings on small trades, which reads as a red flag to anyone checking a chart before buying. There's no universal minimum, but a pool that visibly moves 10%+ on a $50 trade is thin enough to discourage buyers. Size proportionally to what you actually expect early trading volume to look like, not to what you'd like the market cap to imply.

Locking liquidity

An unlocked pool means whoever holds the LP tokens can withdraw everything at any time. That is the mechanism behind a classic "rug pull." Locking those LP tokens in a time-locked contract for a public, verifiable period is one of the clearest trust signals a new token can show, and it's something buyers increasingly check before they buy anything at all.

After liquidity is live

Once a pool exists, aggregators like DexScreener and Jupiter (Solana) or their EVM equivalents pick it up automatically, so you don't need to submit your token anywhere. Price, volume and liquidity depth become publicly visible within minutes.
